Bottom-Up Perspectives in Sustainability Psychology: From Individual Behavior to Global Impact
Gasthörerprogramm
Nachhaltigkeitsorientiert

The course addresses the psychological dimensions of sustainable behavior in the context of fundamental sustainability challenges and questions. It provides an overview of psychological theories and empirical findings that aim to better understand the psychological and contextual mechanisms underlying sustainable and unsustainable human behavior. It discusses psychological levers and barriers to sustainable behavior across diverse target groups and national contexts. Finally, the course introduces behavior change interventions and critically examines their potential as levers for fostering more sustainable behavior.

The module aims to enable students to critically reflect on psychological theories and empirical findings to understand sustainable and unsustainable human behavior across diverse population groups and contexts. It further aims to provide students with an understanding of the effects of behavior change interventions, both in isolation and in combination with other interventions, such as economic interventions.
