Inhalt und Konzept

This course will take us into the world of organizational corruption and the work of economic forensics, who investigate cases of corruption. You will learn how forensic experts approach a new case, how they set up their research design, and how they unveil organizational misconduct. Using real cases such as Volkswagen, development cooperation projects, or healthcare, you will see how corruption starts, spreads, and is tackled in different contexts.
Working in groups with students from different backgrounds, you'll use your own experience to take on the role of an economic forensic expert. Together, you will analyze a real case and create a research proposal. If possible, we will also speak with a professional economic forensic who can share real-life insights from his work.

Ziel

• Students will learn and critically discuss different conceptualizations of corruption (actor-based, structural approaches)
• Students will learn to work with collaborators from different backgrounds while developing drafts for research proposals in interdisciplinary groups
• Understanding the work of economic forensics and their professionalization practices
