Many researchers and students are intimidated by quantitative data analysis. However, quantitative methods are used in a wide variety of research fields and can truly broaden one's analytical toolbox.
Therefore, this BEGINNER/INTRODUCTORY course shall provide a platform for students to gain a better understanding of quantitative research methods with a focus on social science questions.

During the course, we will explore quantitative data analysis to study society. The course combines theoretical discussions of quantitative methods with practical exercises using RStudio.

The content can be roughly divided into three blocks:
1. Theory and the basics of quantitative (vs. qualitative) methods
2. Descriptive statistics with R
3. Statistical tests and data visualization with R
The depth of each block depends on the students' preferences. No previous knowledge is required.

The course aims to help students understand when and how to use quantitative data analysis to conduct social science research. The course is intended to give you a first opportunity to try out statistical software and to develop your methodological skills that you can later use in your own research projects.
