Alternative Timelines: Sociology of Power and Creative Writing
none

It is 1989 and the reunification is happening. However, is it? This course involves using alternative timelines (speculative fiction) combined with theories of power and diplomacy. Students will apply the theories discussed in class by using creative writing to re-think and re-write history. In doing so, students will see how individuals can effect society.

Students will a write collaborative novella about the alternative history of the German/European re-unification. Please note there are 3 double hours which mandatory attendance is required. The collaborative story and the writing assignments will be set up and started in these sessions. The schedule is in the material section.

- Understand and apply sociological theories
- Utilize speculative fiction to reflect past events
- Use creative writing techniques
- Discuss, debate and reach consensus in group setting

A high level of spoken and written English is essential. This course requires 99% attendance and is done in a group. If you do not have time or like working in groups, please do not take this class.
