The course covers advanced statistical methods in psychological research. The course focuses on quantitative methods. Furthermore, the module provides students with skills in developing a good research design. Based on papers that present the most recent advances in research designs and methodological approaches, the students learn to understand and use the following methods: moderation, mediation; moderated mediation / mediated moderation; multi-level analyses (random coefficient modeling); growth curve modelling including dynamic mediated growth models and discontinuous growth models; lagged research designs and within- and between-person analysis. In terms of research designs, the course focuses on longitudinal surveys, in particular diary/weekly studies and experience sampling methods.

Skillfully apply advanced quantitative statistical methods by analyzing data with statistical software packages to test and extend scientific theories
Accurately express and interpret statistical results
Use precise and correct scientific terms when presenting statistical methods and results
Contribute thoughtfully and constructively to team discussions and exercises
Recognize ethical dilemmas in statistical analyses and interpretations and independently apply good scientific practices to produce accurate and trustworthy scientific outputs
