Introduction and overview on popular music studies’ main topics and methods. Historical and sociocultural backgrounds and aspects of popular music (e.g. production, economy, meaning, politics, gender, aesthetics, reception etc.)
Students
- get basic knowledge of theoretical and methodological approaches of the field.
- are able to read and understand research-based articles on popular music, as well as book chapters.
- build or improve their skills in handling international scientific discussions, and underlying propositions.
