Quantitative Research Methods (IBAE Exercise #4)

The module Quantitative Research Methods deals with the theoretical and practical background necessary to understand and conduct quantitative approaches in business and organizational behavior research. Specifically, the course deals with quantitative research designs, data collection and quantitative measurement, and deductive hypothesis testing. The focus is on survey research and linear relationships between variables, including moderation, mediation, and regression analysis.

The module covers an interactive lecture (2 SWS) and a practice part (1 SWS) that includes a joint survey project from planning (preregistration) to writing a quantitative paper.

This module has the following aims:
(i) It will help students to grasp the importance of quantitative methods in business, management, and organizational behavior.
(ii) It will give students the opportunity to understand the links between quantitative methods from data collection to analysis and its practical implementation.
(iii) It will offer students the possibility to acquire basic knowledge in statistical analysis of linear relationships.
(iv) It will provide students with the opportunity to design and implement a research project employing quantitative methods.

The module examination is based on a group project that covers:
- Active participation in setting up and conducting the course’s quantitative study (e.g., selection of scales, recruitment of participants)
- A group pre-registration document
- A group written report on methods, results, and discussion on methodological strengths and limitations

All assignments and all material of the whole module (lecture+practice) will be processed in a Moodle course.
Your enrolment is mandatory!
