In the course of the colloquium, we will address the challenges of scholarly writing. We will start with the question of how to do empirical and creative research in the field of digital media, discussing different scientific methods such as online ethnography, walkthrough method, or visual content analysis etc. as well as creative methods. As the colloquium progresses, we will look at the steps involved in project planning, researching and locating appropriate research literature and other sources, as well as helpful strategies for constructing a scholarly argument and preparing a draft manuscript.
Students will 1) learn to develop a scientific research project independently, 2) acquire scientific writing skills and 3) receive feedback on their project.
