Künstliche Intelligenz ist seit der Veröffentlichung von ChatGPT Thema an Hochschulen Gegenstand vielfältiger Diskussionen. Einige bejubeln die Potenziale; andere zeichnen dystopische Bilder. Die Leuphana hat mit ihren „Bedingungen und Empfehlungen für die Nutzung von KI-basierten Anwendungen in Lehre und Prüfungen“ einen Rahmen geschaffen, der Lehrenden und Studierenden gleichermaßen Orientierung bieten soll. Allerdings bedarf ein solcher Rahmen einer individuellen Ausgestaltung. Auch kann er nicht über bestehende Unsicherheiten hinweghelfen, wie er auf eine konkrete Lehr-Lern-Situation anzuwenden ist. Hierfür bedarf es eines Austauschs. Das KI-Schreiblabor ist hierfür ein Forum für Lehrende und Studierende, um

(1) sich über Formen des Einsatzes von KI in der Lehre beraten zu lassen,
(2) über Möglichkeiten der eigenen Nutzung (z.B. beim Verfassen von schriftlichen Arbeiten) zu informieren oder
(3) Tools einmal auszuprobieren.

Since the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, AI has received considerable attention by the general public and in higher education. Some have praised its potential; others have raised the specter of a dystopian future. To provide guidance to students and faculty regarding the use of this emergent technology, Leuphana University has released “Conditions and Recommendations for the Use of AI-Based Applications in Teaching and Assessment” (https://www.leuphana.de/en/lehre/organisation/pruefungsorganisation-fuer-lehrende/ai-recommendations.html). As outlined in these guidelines, instructors have to decide, on a case-by-case basis, how tools such as ChatGPT can be used (or why they cannot be used at all). In some cases, faculty and students may need a forum in which they can openly discuss solutions to challenging situations. Anticipating this need, the AI Writing Lab is a venue in which students and faculty can

(1) consider how they could integrate AI in their writing and teaching in a legally and ethically sound manner,
(2) learn more about AI tools and their potential (for example for academic and scientific writing),
(3) test these tools and consider to what extent these might be used to advance teaching and learning.
