This lecture provides first-year students majoring in Political Science with a systematic overview of the discipline’s key sub-fields (political theory and the history of ideas, government, comparative politics, international relations, political sociology, and policy analysis). Key concepts, theoretical frameworks and methodological approaches are explained using illustrative problems and questions.

Objective

The aim is to acquire a basic understanding of the theoretical and empirical aspects of political science.

To successfully complete the module, students must enrol in an accompanying seminar. Therefore, registration for the lecture takes place automatically upon registration for the accompanying seminar "Introduction to Political Science".
