In the field of ecology, you should be familiar with interactions between organisms and their environment and have a substantial understanding of population and community ecology. As preparation, you can use e.g. the textbook by Begon et al. ‘Ecology: from individuals to ecosystems’ (see 'Bibliography'/‘Literatur’).
