The seminar is designed as a book project. Specifically, as part of their assessment, participants of this course will compose an essay on a self-selected case (a corporation, a non-profit organization, a startup, a political organization, …) that reflects the relevance/importance of discussed modules included in the IBAE curriculum (ca. 1,500 words, 70 percent). If granted permission by students, these essays will be published in an anthology on "Foundations of Management & Entrepreneurship: Concepts and Cases". In addition, students will submit a short summary of their essay in a practitioner-friendly style and language use (500 words, 30 percent). The assessment criteria for the assessment parts are: argumentation completeness and coherence as well as citation accuracy (chapter); and coherence with the chapter as well as practitioner-friendly accessibility (blog post).
There are no format requirements, except that all submissions should start with a title and append “References” (if any; these are to be included in the word count) below the main text. Students who wish to publish their chapter as part of the eBook and/or their blog post on os-insights.org must fill out and return the declaration form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd90MY_Rs1_Cefqc6G4A_QPpRSJawXAAl5RlaqsADo5zlXyWg/viewform?usp=header Furthermore, please note that participants who wish to publish their book chapter and/or blog post must only use figures and tables for which they own the rights to use and distribute them. In doubt, the creation of one’s own figures and tables is recommended.
All submissions are required to include a declaration of authorship (https://www.leuphana.de/en/institutions/writing-center/resources/declaration-of-authorship.html) in the back end of those submissions (not included in the word count). All submitted essays will be checked for plagiarism.
Furthermore, include a declaration of AI use (if any) at the end of your submissions (not included in the word count). There are legitimate uses of generative AI (genAI). For example, these include improvements of one’s writing or the brainstorming of ideas. Yet, there is no need to use genAI, as you are surely creative enough to come up with your own ideas, and this technology does not replace one’s own reflections and analysis. In addition to “hallucinations” (the output of well-sounding or seemingly sensical but untrue statements), this technology reproduces biases of all sorts, including gender biases and political distortions. Hence, the unreflected use of genAI will likely lead to inferior outcomes, especially in scientific contexts. The general rule of genAI use is that assessment objects (e.g., an essay) stand on one’s own ideas and insights, rather than those generated by others (i.e., other people or technologies). You find more on the fair use of AI and its declaration in the related document on myStudy (the declaration table can be adjusted to one’s own use). All forms of academic misbehavior—whether plagiarism or prohibited uses of generative artificial intelligence (genAI)—will be diligently prosecuted.
Upload the documents in an editable format (e.g., docx) to the respective upload folders on myStudy by the deadline specified above. Name the documents as follows: “[matriculation number]_chapter” and “[matriculation number]_blog” (without the brackets, of course).
