Die Vorlesung bietet einen breiten konzeptionellen und historischen Überblick über wissenschaftliche Methoden. Beginnend mit den epistemologischen Grundlagen verschiedener methodischer Ansätze und Fächerkulturen wird die wachsende Diversität von Methoden erläutert. Gleichzeitig wird das inter-und transdisziplinäre Grundverständnis der Leuphana so erläutert, und anhand von soliden Grundprinzipien der Methodik wie z.B. Bias oder kritische Reflexion die Grundlage für die methodische Fokussierung im Major und Minor erläutert. Anhand von praktischen und interaktiven Aufgaben werden Methoden erfahrbar, und die Lernenden generieren so erste Daten aus sich selbst heraus.

The lecture offers a broad conceptual and historical overview on scientific methods. Starting with the epistemological fundamentals of diverse metho-dological approaches and disciplines, the increasing diversity of methods is explained. At the same time, the inter- and transdisciplinary path at Leu-phana is exemplified, and the fundamental principles of scientific methodology (such as bias or critical reflection) as well as the methodological focus of Major and Minor courses are illustrated. Methods are made tangible through practical and interactive tasks and the students generate first data by themselves.

Die Studierenden kriegen einen Überblick über zentrale wissenschaftliche Methoden anhand einer Vorstellung der Geschichte der Methodenentwicklung und die konzeptionelle Herleitung des Methodenkanons. Zentrale Konzepte von Methoden (z.B. Bias) werden vorgestellt, und anhand ausgewählter Methoden die Anwendung im Rahmen von wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten diskutiert. Darüber hinaus werden die Studierenden in einem kritischen Diskurs ein-geführt, der vornehmlich die Konsequenz aus der empirischen Methodenanwendung für Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft vorstellt. Die Verantwortung der Methodenwahl und die Erarbeitung von Erfahrung in der Methodenanwendung wird somit als zentrales Ziel der Vorlesung erarbeitet, und die Seminare bieten hierzu eine fachspezifische Kontextualisierung.

The students receive an overview of central scientific methods through an introduction to the history of scientific methodology and the conceptual orig-ins of the methodological canon. Fundamental concepts of methods (such as bias) are presented, and the applicability of selected methods for scienti-fic work is discussed. In addition, the students are introduced to critical discourse on the consequences of empirical application of methods for science and society. The responsibility inherent to the choice of methods and the generation of experience with their application are a core goal of the lecture, while the seminars offer contextualisation specific to the disciplines.
