The seminar covers specific topics that were introduced in the lecture “Social Psychology” in more detail. Topics covered in this seminar include social cognition, social perception, self and identity, attitude and attitude change, conformity, groups and group processes, prosocial behavior, prejudice, stereotype and discrimination, social conflict and conflict resolution. This course will help students to understand key concepts in the field of social psychology and the research methodology used to conduct empirical studies.

Upon the completion of this course, students should be able to:
• gain knowledge about pivotal theories of social psychology, classical studies of social psychology, and their empirical findings,
• master basic concepts of empirical research methods in social psychology and its practice,
• obtain knowledge concerning the effect of social contexts (e.g., real or imaginary presence of other individuals) on cognitive, motivational, and affective processes, as well as critical reflection upon social psychology’s theories and empirical findings.
